Ranch to Plate - Premium Wagyu from Cross Creek Ranch
Every cut of Cross Creek Ranch Wagyu starts in the same place: our family ranch high in the Colorado Rockies. "Ranch to Plate" isn't a slogan for us. It's the actual path your steak takes, and we own every step of it.
It Starts on the Ranch
Cross Creek Ranch sits in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains near Hesperus, Colorado, about ten miles west of Durango. Our family has worked this land since the late 1800s, and our cattle brand was registered in Colorado in 1899. That heritage shapes how we raise every animal today, with patience and room to roam.
Genetics That Make the Marbling
We raise two kinds of Wagyu. Our Full Blood Wagyu is 100% purebred Japanese Black (Kuroge Washu), with a bloodline that traces back to Japan. That genetics is what gives Wagyu its marbling, where the fat is woven through the muscle instead of sitting around it. Our American Wagyu crosses that Japanese Wagyu with American Angus for a marbled cut with a richer, more familiar steak flavor. Both grade above USDA Prime.
Raised the Slow Way
Great beef begins with low-stress animals. Ours are raised in the clean air of the high country, with snow-fed mountain water and a natural diet of grass and quality hay, and no added hormones or antibiotics. Less stress and time done right make for more tender, more flavorful beef. There are no shortcuts here.
From Our Ranch to Your Door
When the time is right, our Wagyu is processed here in Colorado and flash-frozen to lock in its flavor and texture. Then we ship it straight to your door anywhere in the continental U.S., packed cold and ready for your kitchen, with free 2-day shipping on orders over $200. The same Wagyu trusted by chefs and served in fine restaurants is yours to cook at home.
Ranch-to-Plate FAQ
Where is Cross Creek Ranch located?
Cross Creek Ranch is a family ranch in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains near Hesperus, Colorado, about ten miles west of Durango. Our family has worked this land since the late 1800s, and our cattle brand was registered in Colorado in 1899.
What's the difference between Full Blood Wagyu and American Wagyu?
Our Full Blood Wagyu is 100% purebred Japanese Black (Kuroge Washu), with a bloodline that traces back to Japan. That genetics is what gives Wagyu its marbling, where the fat is woven through the muscle instead of sitting around it. Our American Wagyu crosses that Japanese Wagyu with American Angus for rich marbling at a more accessible price. Both grade above USDA Prime.
Is Cross Creek Ranch Wagyu raised with hormones?
No. Our Wagyu is raised with no added hormones or antibiotics. We raise the cattle slowly and give them room to roam, the way our family has done on this land for generations.
Is the beef dry-aged?
Yes. Our steaks are dry-aged for 21 days to deepen their flavor and tenderness before they are cut and packed.
How is the beef shipped, and where do you deliver?
Every order is flash-frozen to lock in quality and shipped anywhere in the continental United States, with free 2-day shipping on orders over $200. We sell online and ship straight from the ranch to your door, so there is no retail storefront to visit.
What makes Wagyu so marbled and tender?
It comes down to genetics. The Kuroge Washu bloodline lays down fat within the muscle itself, so it melts into the meat as it cooks. That is what gives Wagyu its buttery texture and rich flavor.
Does Cross Creek Ranch control the whole process?
Yes. We own every step. The cattle are raised and finished on our Colorado ranch, then dry-aged, hand-cut, flash-frozen, and shipped directly to your door. There are no middlemen between our pasture and your plate.
